Training Tales

I mentioned in previous post that I have started going to a personal trainer.  It is going, well, SO WELL!

I didn't know what to expect.  I really didn't think I would ever go to a personal trainer but when I met Niki of B-Xtreme Fitness during a business function, something just clicked.

I have a back injury and have been very hesitant doing strength training or anything that might stress the back.  Niki is trained to know how to put together a program that strengthens all the right areas that support my lower back so as to ward off future injuries.  I had to use a cane and was not able to stand upright for 6 months due to 3 bulging/ruptured lower discs.  There was no way I trusted myself or just anyone to make up an exercise routine.

Beyond her expertise training someone with my injuries, she also appreciates the Eat-Clean diet like I do.  This is basically eating fresh non-processed foods and eating small meals about every 2 hours.  I have been following this diet for a while.  I am still working on perfecting the lifestyle.  I have been getting closer!

There is a little added thing that has come about that I wasn't quite expecting.  I really like meeting & being around all these powerful like minded women!  We are all there for the same reason.  To get/be healthy and taking that time for ourselves.  I look so forward to this hour I get to train one on one with Niki.  It hurts a little but it's a good hurt.  It has overflowed into the time I am not at B-Xtreme. I want to be well.  I want to be the best I can be in all sorts of different parts of my life.

Girl child is also going to B-Xtreme a couple times a month for sport fitness training.  She has had a knee injury from tumbling that she is working on strengthening with her trainer Stephanie who was a gymnast previously so knows what is going on with girl childs body.  The training will also change a little to coincide with girl child playing basketball and track as well as her tumbling/trampoline/double-mini training.  Stephanie was kind enough to train me once when I had to change my training time and Niki had another client during that time.  I loved training with Stephanie too.

This is good for me in so many ways.  Both body & soul.  It is cheaper than my health-insurance co-pay/re-imbursment rate for back injury and is also cheaper than going to see a mental health provider!  Feeling pretty empowered these days!

I have already booked my training thru the month of December.  I really don't want to quit.  Ever.

Will keep you posted!

My heart breaks for you.  There is nothing I can say that I feel would be adequate.  Know that my prayers go out to you and I know God has you in his hands.

Maybe we will see each other at B-Xtreme one of these days.  It is a wonderful and supportive place to be.

      Take Care of You!
